Desertmartin's breakthrough
Desertmartin won the Derry Intermediate Football Championship for the first time on Sunday, 25 October, beating Greenlough 0-17 to 1-11 at Celtic Park, the Irish News reports. They had lost five previous county finals. Ryan McEldowney scored 0-7. DerryNow said the club "banished final ghosts" with the win. The team is managed by Sean Brady and includes Derry county player Lachlan Murray.
Donaghmoyne's view
Donaghmoyne beat Ballybay by a point to win the Monaghan final, and they will play senior football next year. Manager Paddy Martin told the Anglo-Celt: "I'll remember this when I'm in the nursing home." He said the priority is: "Can we just survive in Senior next year?"
Martin was involved in 2016, when Donaghmoyne lost the Ulster intermediate final to Pomeroy. Ronan McDonald is joint-captain.
The draw
The other quarter-finals are Butlersbridge v St Peter's, Naomh Éanna v Rostrevor/Rock, and Kinawley v Uisce Chaoin, Ulster GAA's fixtures show.
Castleblayney beat Inniskeen 0-14 to 1-7 to reach the Monaghan minor hurling final, while Inniskeen's adult hurlers won all three Ulster Junior B group games and face Buncrana in the semi-final on Sunday.
Clontibret have won the 2026 Monaghan senior camogie championship, claiming the county title in Sunday's final against Inniskeen at Blackhill Emeralds and earning a place in the Ulster club campaign.
Ulster champions Scotstown will play Magherafelt in the Ulster Senior Club Football quarter-final in Clones on the weekend of 8 November. Magherafelt beat Newbridge 3-17 to 0-20 to win the Derry title.
