The Monaghan LGFA Intermediate League will be settled by a straight shootout between the two sides who contested last month's county final. Truagh host Latton in the final round of the league on Sunday, 25 October, at 11am in Truagh, with referee Paul McGeown in charge, according to the Monaghan GAA fixtures page.

Going into the game, Truagh and Latton are level at the top of the table on 18 points each, with six wins and three defeats from nine games. Carrickmacross and Killeevan Sarsfields have finished their league programmes on 16 points from ten games, with Castleblayney Faughs on 15 and Aughnamullen on 3. With a win worth three points, a victory on Sunday would put either Truagh or Latton three points clear of the chasing pack.

A rematch of the county final

The two clubs met in the Monaghan LGFA Intermediate Championship final at Gavan Duffy Park on Sunday, 27 September, and the Anglo-Celt described it as an exciting final. Truagh, runners-up in 2025, won it by the minimum, 1-15 to 2-11. Five points from Morgan McKenna helped them lead 0-9 to 0-4 after 22 minutes, before a Shauna Coyle goal brought Latton back into it at 0-10 to 1-5 at half-time.

Caoimhe Moran (Truagh) and Eimile Culleton (Latton) traded goals early in the second half. Ciara Mulligan and Louise Dempsey kept Latton in touch right to the end, but McKenna and Moran finished with a combined 1-10 between them as Truagh held on, the Anglo-Celt reported.

The league meeting between the sides earlier in the summer was less close. On 26 July, Truagh won 2-12 to 0-7 in Latton, the Monaghan GAA results show.

How the last round went

The other two games in round 10 were played on Sunday, 18 October. Carrickmacross beat Castleblayney Faughs 2-12 to 1-11 in Carrickmacross, and Killeevan Sarsfields won 4-11 to 3-11 away to Aughnamullen. Latton's most recent league outing was a 7-12 to 2-15 win over Castleblayney on 11 October, while Truagh beat Killeevan 2-8 to 1-7 the same day.
