It will be Monaghan against Cavan in two Ulster Ladies Club Championship semi-finals on Sunday 1 November. Donaghmoyne have been drawn away to Knockbride in the senior grade, and Truagh will host Cornafean in the intermediate grade. Ulster Ladies Gaelic's fixture list has both games down for a 2pm throw-in.

The pairings were confirmed after a weekend in which all four clubs won. The Anglo-Celt, reporting on the results, said Knockbride and Truagh have home advantage. The provincial fixture list gives the senior game's venue as Knockbride and the intermediate game's venue as Truagh. Referees are still listed as to be confirmed.

Senior: Donaghmoyne away to Knockbride

Donaghmoyne topped Group 1 in this year's revamped senior series with two wins from two. They beat Down champions Bredagh 2-16 to 0-7 in the opening round, then hit four goals to beat Tyrone champions Errigal Ciarán 4-11 to 0-8 away from home on Saturday, according to Ulster Ladies Gaelic's results.

The Anglo-Celt said Donaghmoyne led that game from start to finish, with two goals in each half. It singled out Sharon and Fiona Courtney in a well-organised defence, and Cora Courtney, Catriona Murnaghan and Lauren Garland up front.

Knockbride will be a tougher test. The Anglo-Celt described the Cavan side as last year's All-Ireland club winners. They have also won both of their Ulster games so far, beating Derry's Steelstown 1-11 to 0-8 and then Armagh champions Shane O'Neills 1-19 to 3-10 on Sunday. That second win came in what the paper called "a titanic tussle", with steady point-taking winning out over the Armagh side's three goals.

The other senior semi-final, also fixed for 1 November at 2pm, pits the winners of Group Two against the best runner-up across the groups. Its venue has yet to be named.

Intermediate: Truagh at home to Cornafean

Truagh, the Monaghan intermediate champions, reached the last four with a 2-9 to 0-5 quarter-final win over Antrim's Naomh Eoin (listed by Ulster Ladies Gaelic as St John's). The Anglo-Celt said a large home crowd watched at St Mellan's Park. Full-forward Mia O'Reilly scored two early points, Gráinne Slowey and Joanne Coyle blocked goal chances, and goalkeeper Molly Flood made a good save from an advancing Naomh Eoin forward.

Cornafean held off Tyrone's Moortown 0-13 to 1-8 in their quarter-final. The Anglo-Celt said it was the club's first time hosting a provincial championship match, at Páirc Naomh Fionnán. Cornafean led by five points after an hour, but Brianna Vincent's quick free and goal made for a nervy finish. The McCaffrey sisters, Katie McGahern and Amy Wharton shared Cornafean's scores.

The other intermediate semi-final, also on 1 November at 2pm, is Mullabrack (Armagh) against Naomh Columba (Donegal) at Mullabrack. Mullabrack beat Aghadrumsee 1-12 to 0-10 and Naomh Columba beat Burren 3-7 to 2-9 at the weekend.

What it means

Neither tie will be easy, but a good Sunday could put a Monaghan club in both Ulster finals. Ulster Ladies Gaelic has not yet listed final dates for the senior or intermediate grades. We will carry the details once they are confirmed.
