O'Gorman's SuperValu in Carrickmacross has been shortlisted for the 2026 SuperValu Off Licence of the Year Awards. It is the only store from Ulster on the list of finalists, Northern Sound reports.
The shortlist
Shelflife Magazine reports that 31 SuperValu stores made the shortlist, picked from more than 200 stores nationwide. The full award name is the Edward Dillon & Santa Rita Estates SuperValu Off Licence of the Year Awards.
Carrickmacross is the only Monaghan store on the county-by-county list. No store from any other Ulster county is listed.
Cork has the most finalists, with 11 stores.
The awards night
The finalists will gather at the Tullamore Court Hotel, Co. Offaly, on Thursday 19 November for an evening hosted by broadcaster Shay Byrne. Shelflife reports that there are four categories: Breakthrough Store of the Year, Medium/Small Store of the Year, Large Store of the Year and the Champions League Award. Each category winner will get a VIP trip to the Rioja wine region in Spain from Santa Rita Estates.
Vanessa Morris, the off-licence manager at the Carrickmacross store, spoke to Northern Sound about the work behind the nomination. Last year's overall award went to SuperValu Ballisodare, Co. Sligo.
