A local road near Carrickmacross will be closed during working hours for almost four weeks from Monday 9 November, while a new water main is installed, Monaghan County Council has announced.
Where and when
The closure covers the LS-8810, from its junction with the LP-4921 (Old Ardee Road) to its junction with the LS-8800 in the townland of Halftate. The council notice runs from 8am on Monday 9 November to 5pm on Friday 4 December 2026. Within that period, the road may be closed between 8am and 5pm.
The notice, signed by senior engineer Paul Connolly and dated 29 October, says the closure is "to facilitate the installation of a new water main".
Diversions and access
Local diversions will be signposted for the duration of the works. Local access and emergency vehicles will be accommodated at all times. Queries go to the Carrickmacross-Castleblayney Municipal District office at the Civic Offices on Riverside Road, Carrickmacross.
Other works in the district
The council's road notices list also shows a separate closure in the same municipal district, on the R181-2 at Killygola, near Castleblayney. That notice runs from 26 October to 28 November 2026. Drivers who use both routes should allow extra time through November.
