Trick-or-treaters in Monaghan should mostly stay dry on Halloween night, Saturday, 31 October, according to Met Éireann. It expects only minimal patchy drizzle in parts of the midlands, south and east, with most of the country staying largely dry.
The forecast for Ulster
Friday: drier in the eastern half of the province, with highs of 14 to 16 degrees and moderate to fresh southeasterly winds. Patchy mist and fog will develop overnight, with lows of 8 to 12 degrees.
Saturday: rain in the west becomes patchier and pushes east. The eastern half of Ulster should have sunny spells for most of the day before damp, drizzly weather develops in the evening. Highs of 12 to 15 degrees.
Halloween night: lows of 2 to 9 degrees, coolest in the north and west under clearing skies, with mist and fog in places.
Sunday: dry overall with sunny spells after some early drizzle, mist and fog. Highs of 10 to 13 degrees in a light northerly breeze.
The Anglo-Celt also reports mostly dry weather for trick-or-treating. Met Éireann says high pressure to the north of Ireland will bring a mostly dry, calm and settled spell well into next week, cool by day and rather cold by night.
