Aghabog started fast. Ciaran Logue fisted a goal in the first minute and Dermot Smyth scored a second goal on 30 minutes. They led 2-04 to 0-06 at half-time, Monaghan GAA reported. In extra time, a two-pointer from Tom Doherty and a goal from Darragh McAdam proved decisive.
Final score
The two official reports give different final scores. The Monaghan GAA county board report gives 2-20 to 3-13. Drumhowan GAA's club report gives 2-21 to 3-13 (after extra time). Both agree on the winner and on Aghabog's 3-13.
The club said the Liam Stirrat Cup completes the Junior double for the third time in its history, after 1960 and 2006. Northern Sound said it was Aghabog's first Junior final since 1990. Aghabog had already been promoted to intermediate by beating Currin in the semi-final.
