Donaghmoyne beat Tyrone champions Errigal Ciarán 4-11 to 0-8 in round two of the AIB Ulster Ladies Senior Club Championship on Saturday 17 October, according to results published by Ulster Ladies Gaelic, HoganStand and Monaghan GAA. The game threw in at 4pm in Tyrone.
It is a second big win in a week for the Monaghan champions, who opened their campaign with a 2-16 to 0-7 win over Down champions Bredagh (our report).
Where it leaves them
This year's Ulster senior series uses three-team groups for the first time, with Errigal Ciarán, Donaghmoyne and Bredagh in Group 1, We Are Tyrone reported. The group winners go straight into the semi-finals, joined by the best runner-up from the three groups.
Monaghan GAA's table shows Donaghmoyne top of Group 1 with six points from two games, scoring 45 and conceding 15. Errigal Ciarán and Bredagh have each played once without a win.
Errigal Ciarán came into the game after a double success in Tyrone this autumn, including beating Dungannon in the Tyrone senior final, according to We Are Tyrone.
Back in Ulster after two years
Donaghmoyne won 21 Monaghan titles in a row before that run was broken, and hold 14 Ulster senior titles, We Are Tyrone noted. Captain Grace Comiskey, 21, said at the Ulster club launch: "It has been a tough two years, we seen other teams win the Monaghan title and it hurt. We sat down at the start of this year and set out our plans with the determination to get the title again and we did."
In the other Ulster senior games at the weekend, Knockbride (Cavan) beat Shane O'Neills (Armagh) 1-19 to 3-10 and St Eunan's (Donegal) beat Kinawley Brian Borus (Fermanagh) 3-12 to 2-13, HoganStand reported.
